How to use the Annular Ring Calculator

Configure the unit, IPC-6012 class, via type, and drill diameter. The ring values will be displayed in the Calculation Results section.

Step-1: Select the preferred Dimension Unit: Metric (mm), Mils (mil), or Inches (in). The drill diameter and ring values will be displayed in the selected unit.

Define the dimension unit, IPC class, via type, and drill diameter.

Step-2: Choose the applicable IPC-6012 CLASS:

2 (Dedicated)
3 (Reliability)
S (Space/Mil)

Step-3: Pick the required VIA TYPE:

Through Hole (Standard)
Blind (Microvia)
Buried (Internal)

Step-4: Set the DRILL SIZE DIAMETER using the slider.

The tool displays the following values:

MINIMUM ANNULAR RING WIDTH
RECOMMENDED ANNULAR RING
MAX ANNULAR RING
