How IPC-2581 addresses the NPI challenges

IPC-2581 provides a unified PCB design data format, enabling seamless data exchange between the designers and fab houses. It directly integrates the design files into the CAM system and facilitates a quicker new product introduction (NPI).

In this webinar, you’ll learn the benefits of IPC-2581 for NPI over Gerber and ODB++.

PCB design files include a schematic, netlist, stack-up, assembly drawing, and special instructions, if any. Managing and maintaining multiple files increases the risk of data discrepancies. IPC-2581 (IPC-DPMX) encapsulates design, assembly, and fabrication data in a single file, eliminating the need for multiple documents.

IPC-DPMX simplifies the transfer of stack-up details, including layer thickness, impedance requirements, and tolerances. In revision C, controlled impedance analysis is outlined, covering transmission line geometry, line width, spacing, and tolerance attributes.

The bi-directional DFX module of the design data format allows a two-way exchange of information. It enables you to receive feedback on issues from the manufacturer and fix them in real-time.

The IPC-DPMX provides enhanced traceability throughout the design and manufacturing processes. It keeps track of design rules and constraints, making the DRC process a breeze. This is makes it easy during re-engineering.

The IPC-2581 format automates machine-to-machine communication, eliminating the need for manual data entry and verification. This not only streamlines the manufacturing and design processes but also guarantees the highest productivity, addressing the needs of Industry 4.0

In this webinar, our experts will show you how to accomplish an intelligent design data hand-off and expedite NPI using IPC-2581.
