Eric Bogatin: “The crosstalk problems can limit what PAM-4 can do”

During DesignCon 2018, Sierra interviewed the Signal Integrity Evangelist Eric Bogatin. We could not resist to ask him about his first DesignCon. “You know, I looked back at all the DesignCons that I’ve been to, and I think it was in 1992, he said. It was back in the old days when it was the HP High-Speed Digital Symposium, so it’s been a long time.” Listen to this PCB expert’s thoughts on technology, crosstalk, PAM-4, educating the new class of PCB designers, and the signal integrity market.

DesignCon 2016 Recap

Thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth at DesignCon! It was great talking to everyone at the show and learning about everyone’s upcoming projects. And a huge congratulations to Eric Bogatin, who was named Engineer of the Year. Check out this excellent interview he did with EDN.

If you were unable to attend, or attended and missed some sessions, don’t worry! We’ve got a show recap for you below. And we interviewed several industry leaders and speakers, so stay tuned for some great videos and posts.

Heidi Barnes of Keysight Technologies said, “DesignCon is exactly what’s needed out there in the industry, in terms of understanding power integrity and signal integrity, and that’s what makes DesignCon so exciting. All of the people from around the world are at DesignCon. It’s the one conference in the world where we do get all the signal integrity and power integrity experts in one place.”

Trade Show Questions

Whenever we exhibit at a trade show, we’re asked the following two questions. I’ll supply our answers below. If you have any other questions for us, feel free to leave a comment below!

What does Sierra do?
Sierra Circuits is a one-stop printed circuit board shop. That means we can help you with every single stage of your board: from design to manufacturing to assembly. If you need help at any stage, we’re here! We’ve got designers and engineers with decades of experience. We’ll make sure your board is manufacturable and reliable.

Where is Sierra located?
All of Sierra Circuits’ facilities are in Sunnyvale, California. Our sales team, design, and engineers are located mere feet away from our manufacturing facilities. And our assembly shop is a few miles away, also in Sunnyvale. If you shoot your sales rep an email, they can take a leisurely stroll down the block—or around the building—to get your answer, which results in not only quick response times, but alleviates miscommunication.
