It’s been suggested that by 2018, 4/10 smartphones will be flexible–compared to 0.2% in 2013. We tend to agree. Flexible has become the latest and greatest; what every smart device strives for. We’re already seeing prototype bendable televisions, phones, and wearable tech.
On a related note, the flexible circuit board industry is rapidly changing to keep up with these trends. As we saw at our last trade show, SEMICON West, tighter trace and space is becoming more and more of an issue. Flex boards are becoming thinner and more intricate as well.
Here is a list of features we’d love smartphones to include by 2018.
