Semiconductor Factory Now An Indoor Farm

Reduce, reuse, and recycle has taken on a new meaning in Japan. This former semiconductor factory has been converted into an indoor farm, producing up to 10,000 heads of lettuce a day.

The world’s largest indoor farm uses LED lights and hydroponics to create vegetables with astounding statistics: these plants need just 1% of the water an outdoor farm would need 2.5 times faster.

Mirai grows over 15 kinds of lettuce, and plans on expanding their crops. This could be the future of farming.
