Crowdfunding has revolutionized the way consumers buy goods, the way manufacturers create, and the way inventors and designers promote their products. Meet Tindie, the place “where good handcrafted gadgets go to become businesses.” Similar to Kickstarter and Indiegogo, Tindie allows users to browse, fund, buy or sell goods solely related to technology and electronics.
Tindie brings sites like Etsy, EBAY, and Kickstarter into one convenient location: all focused around gadgets. Tech and hardware prototypes and projects are uploaded and funded by backers, similar to Kickstarter. However, there are more than just crowdfunded projects here.
Owner Emile Petrone states,
“We are the only marketplace geared specifically towards indie hardware and maker-made products—small batch, niche, electronics. We say, ‘See the Next GoPro before it goes pro.'”
One of our favorites? The FunShield Arduino Shield Kit, which makes learning about electronics and programming fun and easy.
